Biltmore Forest Screened Porch

The clients wished to add a screened porch to their home to allow for year-round entertaining. Their existing home was a magnificent residence, located on the fairway of the Biltmore Forest Country Club. The challenge was to design a structure commensurate with the existing home, both in scale and in materials. A massive stone and brick masonry fireplace capped with a custom chimney cap anchors one end of the space, and six wall-mounted, infrared heaters warm up even chilly winter days. A full-length, ridge-mounted skylight caps the standing-seam metal roof and complements the light provided by the rhythmically placed doors and windows. The interior volume is open and soaring because of the handcrafted eastern white pine timber trusses that span the space.
