Garage Remodel

The clients loved their home but needed a retreat for recreation and entertaining, so their detached two-car garage offered the ideal base for expansion. The remodel also provided the opportunity to physically and visually unite the garage and house. The lot’s road frontage displays the house from an oblique angle but the garage head-on, so the garage is quite a prominent feature. A gable-ended addition to the garage and a half-story above allowed for a sport court and entertaining space without appearing too massive from the street. Putting the gable forward and adding gable-roofed dormers in the addition and the bridge created more visual harmony with the peaks of the house’s roofline.
