The objective of the building was to create a village core, evoke East Sacramento’s established neighborhoods, and create unity between the building and its site. The building exemplifies Arts and Crafts as well as Prairie School Tradition. As the village civic center, the building and site are lifted on a masonry plinth, which enhance its stature and provide a sense of privacy for bathers. The ascending campanile, lit at night with state-of-the-art, multi-colored lights, creates a visual focal point for the entire neighborhood. Dynamic roof forms and deep overhangs define and engage intimate outdoor spaces, while large glass expanses are parasolled by a soaring roofline, floating inconspicuously above inviting community spaces.
