For years now, the inexpensive option of paint has been the “go-to” for creating a feature wall in homes. But lately, designers are starting to rely less on paint and are exploring other creative options to add flare, color, pattern and texture to a feature wall. 1. Wallpaper
As wallpaper grows in popularity, more options become available and at a reasonable price. Designers at Lita Dirks & Co. love the diverse patterns wallpaper can offer as well as the additional materials and textures that create impact.

2. Graphics
With advances in technology moving faster than ever, custom digital prints and murals are unique ways to add character to a space. Clubhouses, kids’ rooms, and flex rooms are just some of the spaces where designers have used various graphics to great success.

3. Brick or Stone
An all brick or stone wall is a great way to add an industrial vibe to a room, and using these materials in a feature wall can also help bring the outdoors inside. Additionally, brick and stone fireplaces are always great options. And, by using these materials on a feature wall, you can create a memorable and dynamic statement piece in the space that buyers will love.

4. Wood Paneling
Smooth and seamless or rustic and natural, wood paneling provides a variety of design options. Wood can add a sophisticated or comfortable feel to a feature wall. Depending on the type of wood and application, there are a multitude of creative opportunities to add flare.
5. Decor
Try using decor rather than using a specific wall treatment to add flare to a feature wall. Integrating art, mirrors, or even built-in cabinetry, shelving and bump outs can develop dimension and create pizzazz.
The painted feature wall continues to hold appeal. However, designers are increasingly experimenting with creative ways to add flare to this part of a room. With different textures and materials, there are plenty of unique options to create a “wow” room for potential buyers.
