With breathtaking views of Lake Havasu and the surrounding mountains, the architect was focused on creating a residence celebrating the mountain views and lake lifestyle. Working with a lot only 50 feet wide, Water’s Edge is a study in efficient use of space with simple design and beautiful materials.

Capturing lake views from primary spaces was of key importance. The architect framed views from the great room and dining areas as well as the primary bedroom, elevated to the second floor for privacy. An open floor plan allows formal and informal dining, a bar, and the kitchen to gain the great room’s views. An elevated office provides a work-from-home space out of the way of the main living areas.

Rift-cut oak floors and custom cabinetry create continuity between the main and upper floor’s neutral color palette. Utilizing a neutral palette of travertine, rift-cut oak cabinetry, and porcelain tile, the blues of the water, purples of distant mountains, and oranges of sunset become the feature colors of the villa.

From the Judges
The design of the home overcomes the challenges of a tight lot with the unique configuration of important rooms, such as the kitchen and living area, on the back of the house to avoid a long interior hallway while still taking advantage of the view. The outdoor area is captivating, and the interior details, such as the fireplace, are amazing.
