Olivette Riverside Community and Farm

The team at Olivette Riverside Community and Farm endeavor to create and promote a replicable model for best practice in sustainable new urbanism. The goal is to create a community of lifelong learning, where connections with food, nature, neighbors, and the arts are seamless and foster sustainable happiness. 

The resulting master plan includes farm-focused amenities that foster true connections between residents and the natural environment, with neighborhood hamlets of close-knit homes adjacent to large areas of shared community green space, thus providing wildlife corridors and protection of watersheds on the property.   The heart of Olivette is a fully operational organic farm designed to not only provide food to Olivette residents, but to create opportunities to reconnect with a simpler lifestyle through farm-centric activities. The community also boasts a seven-acre riverfront beach, community gardens and orchards, a large private river island, and miles of interior hiking trails. The community requires geothermal heating and cooling, a HERS score of 55 or lower, and encourages other environmentally friendly building practices, such as passive and active solar design.
