This ground-up renovation located in the foothills of Paradise Valley, Arizona, included an entire vernacular shift. Once a low-slung ranch, the owners requested an interpretation of Spanish Colonial with the added goal of maintaining the spatial scale of the original home. The owners did not want to lose character through the use of oversized spaces. The home boasts the best of handcrafted millwork, Canadian barn beams, Chicago brick, handcrafted tile, and salvaged Mexican doors.
The new plan included an open great room with adjacent bar for entertaining, the addition of a basement with wine tasting room and casual media room, and a second-floor addition for a home office and man cave. There is a found treasure at every turn— a testament to shared client, architect, and interior designer vision.
