This home, part of a new downtown Sacramento neighborhood, seeks to balance classic architecture that blends well with surrounding neighborhoods, while offering modern experiences, injecting a designer aesthetic with comforting familiarity, and blending a suburban living with an urban downtown lifestyle.
Design objectives: Create a desirable open floor plan ideal for entertaining within the restrictions of a 40-foot alley-loaded lot.; Introduce a well-detailed Spanish elevation-style cottage to embrace classically minded move-down buyers seeking an Old World yet urban feel.; Carve out a private outdoor lifestyle courtyard within the plan that feeds light, openness and views to the major living spaces—great room, kitchen, and owners’ suite. Lengthen sight lines and perceived space within the home by using a singular circulation spine to separate primary and secondary spaces.; Arrange a split bedroom layout that embraces the empty nester lifestyle that separates living zones within the plan; Plan-ahead flex options that include an open studio/office combination (as built), a standard den with bedroom 3, or a bedroom 4 option.
