Design Statement | A mix of hues — warm woods and cool grays — create an intimate feel in the expansive spaces in this move-up luxury home. Sight lines characterize this home as unique. From the street, repeating window patterns around the entry tease a glimpse of the luxury beyond. Inside, a wall of glass erases any visual barrier between the great room and the outdoor resort-style space in the backyard. Interior highlights include an open stair, a second-story bridge connecting both bedroom zones, and a full complement of specialty spaces.

Judges’ Comments | The main room is dramatic, beautiful, and well done. The judges noted the flooring in the kitchen and praised the “incredible stairwell and entry that makes a statement, like the wood surrounds in the hallway.”

Design Statement | The farmhouse design is emphasized with clean lines, juxtaposed textures of light, while dry-stack stone adjacent to metal canopies and dark bronze windows add an urban touch. The expansive floor plans are ideal for large families and entertaining. With basement and attic options, these homes can extend from two to four floors of living and gathering space.

A height limit of 35 feet, combined with 10-foot ceiling heights on multiple levels and pitched roofs, required the architects to be ever vigilant to fulfill the design intent within the height limitations. To create wide-open interiors, architects planned extensive glazing and terraces on three levels. A curved, unsupported spiral staircase is the centerpiece, highlighted by double-height windows that carry daylight to the basement. They also create distinct gathering spaces on each floor. A ground-floor suite at the back of the home creates an enclave of privacy for visitors.

Judges’ Comments | The stairway is spectacular and the master bathroom is gorgeous. The judges praised the bar, the kitchen, the shower, the master suite, the details in the walls, and the “very pretty elevation.”
