Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Summit Sky Ranch attracts residents in pursuit of the quintessential Colorado lifestyle. The community comprises luxury single-family homes and connects residents to the surrounding natural environment through its unique amenity offerings and focus on conservation.
To uphold the community’s conservation efforts, finding a new use for the former mining quarry on-site was essential. The space was transformed into a private, 20-acre lake and lake house for residents to savor. The lake creates a safe harbor for families to enjoy swimming, fishing and water sports, while the accompanying lake house offers a place of respite with an indoor kitchen, grilling station, multiple lakeside hot tubs and a fire pit, all set against a striking mountain silhouette.
Tremendous care and consideration went into repurposing the quarry—from the strategic shaping of the underwater topography that allowed the beach to be sheltered from the weather patterns in the valley, to the continuity of native landscaping materials and architectural character found throughout the community. Intentional design decisions such as these culminate in an experience that feels natural and purposeful, rather than manmade, offering a truly one-of-a-kind amenity for residents.

From the Judges | The architecture here is captivating. Plus, the creation of the body of water, and how the buildings complement it, is very intentional.
