With a 360-degree view of the Colorado National Monument, the design vision features building elements reflecting this environment: rectangular stacked stone complementing large boulders, cement panels the mountains, and gently rising and overlapping roof segments the wide-open spaces.
Entering the architect-designed front door, the expansive great room, with its floor-to-ceiling window walls, blurs the interface between inside and out. Wood floors, stone accents, and gently rising ceilings with multi-level soffits continue the theme. Interior design elements provide a warm, contemporary feeling, yet inviting for large informal parties of 200 guests, or more intimate areas for smaller gatherings. The kitchen supports a gourmet cook with professional-grade appliances, in a warm contemporary setting. The primary bedroom suite was carefully situated and inspired by breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges and complete solitude. For guests, a powder room makes a statement with a combination of stark, contrasting materials, contemporary design, and attention to detail. Large boulders on site were left untouched, creating unique exterior spaces in the back yard, finished off with a stainless-steel infinity pool, which ensures integrity in an area with somewhat unstable ground.
