Situated along the scenic High Line Canal with a stunning Chatfield Reservoir view, the High Line House beautifully integrates traditional and modern forms, drawing inspiration from coastal design. Confronted by the site’s level topography, the design team optimized views, established a strong street presence, and filled the surroundings with depth by elevating the building site and artfully reshaping the terrain resulting in captivating layers and dimensions.

Arranged at an angle on the site, the two structures segregate active and social functions. Inside, the great room strikes a balance between simplicity and adaptability. The room’s distinctive ceiling forms and large ribbed structural expression not only establish discrete seating zones within a unified space, but also seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor areas through pocket doors. Adjacent, the versatile event room effortlessly transforms for private gatherings and flows easily to a covered patio and the inviting beer garden beyond.

Central to the design outside, an iconic sculpted tree stands as the focal point, linking the event lawn, fire pit and sheltered outdoor living spaces. The fitness building, acting as the site’s energetic core, houses the active facilities, including the pool mechanical amenities and restrooms.

From the Judges
The buildings feel good on the land, and the interior is congruent with the exterior. It also offers unique outdoor amenities and elements.
