U.S designers collaborated with Japanese-based designers, developing a stunning modern design with Japanese influences appealing to the American home buyer. The result was a home stressing seamless indoor-outdoor connections, maximizing natural light, and delivering flexibility.

Wood and natural stone was used throughout, flowing from exterior to interior and reflecting a life in balance. Architects treated the entryway as its own private space, allowing the home to reveal itself as residents travel from one room to the next. Floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows allow sightlines to covered loggia and brighten the space. Floating stairs with glass railings wrap the fireplace. Expansive doors open the great room to the pool at rear of the home. Communal areas hold the majority of the space in the home, while four bedrooms provide quaint and quiet retreats, creating spaces of solitude and reflection. A multigenerational suite on the first level provides bedroom, bathroom and living space, and is adjacent to a private one-car garage. Just outside the suite, an elevator provides access to one of two second-floor flex spaces, establishing a distinct guest space. The home was designed with wellness and sustainability in mind. Solar paneling, combined with storage battery and inverter, make this home Net Energy Positive.

From the Judges
The house has all the certifications to back up all of its green/healthy claims. The judges praised the beautiful stair. They noted the open spaces and liked the texture of light wood and the light from windows; contrasting materials add interest.
