The design criteria was to create a modern, tranquil retreat located on a corner site of a beautiful infill neighborhood in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. The 5,479-square-foot home is designed to allow dynamic views to the property while providing enough privacy from the corner street. The modern prairie style creates a layered look to the home that provided the opportunity to segment the windows in an organized fashion to allow transom windows in areas that provide the privacy necessary and keep the exterior rhythm.
Upon entry, the home opens to a two-story foyer with a floating staircase that spans three floors. A three-story light fixture was critically handpicked to accentuate the dramatic space. Moving further into the house, you experience the towering stone columns that frame the two-story family room. The corner fireplace with steel accents act as an anchor to the wall of glass that presents the rear property.
The private first-floor owner’s suite is situated on the side of the house, and features a spa-style bath and an owner’s sitting retreat. The limestone and cedar exterior are complemented with metal banding that spans the perimeter of the home and is highlighted by the metal roof and entry.
