This design brought new life to a cottage that was past its prime. Sited on a freshwater lake, the home establishes new context within the existing homes that surround it. The design was set up to fully capture the views of the lake. Large windows allow in plenty of natural light and the French doors can be opened to fully enjoy nature, as well as provide easy access to the backyard.

It was important to maximize every square inch of this small home; this can be seen in the details, including a hideaway bed nestled on the second floor. The new open floor plan from kitchen to living room allows guests to easily mingle between the spaces.

From the Judges
The new spaces are well connected. The exterior is very inviting as one pulls up to the side entry. The judges praised the way the house fits seamlessly into the neighborhood.
