The E.R.B. is a collection of small-lot homes that include live-work units with shops on the ground floor and the shopkeepers’ living space above. The live-work units line the streetfront in response to the city’s efforts to create a vibrant streetscape with its modern and attractive design. This incorporation encourages not only new home ownership, but also new local businesses, which is part of the rich history of the neighborhood.

Traditional design elements, such as wood paneling, are made modern and serve to warm the cool color palette and soften hard elements, such as perforated metal awnings and extensive glazing. Floor plans feature either public, commercial, or private flex space at the ground floor. Living and entertaining space fills the open, bright second level. A balcony extends these spaces and blurs the line between indoor and outdoor. Options for two or three bedrooms are available for a variety of family sizes on the third level. Large roof decks are offered as the new urban backyard providing entertaining and gardening spaces with exceptional views.

From the Judges
This project has many beautiful moments, from the ultra-clean details to the color choices to the variations in the façade design.
