One Uptown represents the highest and best use for the Dallas Uptown neighborhood in terms of density, walkability, mixed-use, and response to the ever-changing demographics and resident demands of the market. One Uptown has the highest walkability score in Dallas, making it the perfect location for residents seeking a safe and active downtown lifestyle.

This project engaged a high level of risk-taking, being built on less than one acre in a fully developed environment, further complicated by excavating 62 feet below ground surface, a first for a multifamily high-rise in Dallas. The project truly maximizes the site’s potential with a high floor area ratio represented in its density, while still respecting the natural symmetry of the site, streetscape, and surrounding neighborhood through modern and elegant architecture.

One Uptown is not only mixed use in itself, but is also situated between three major roadways for a quick commute to other parts of the metroplex. Residents can walk across the street to Whole Food’s flagship store, run or bike the Katy Trail, or shop and eat on McKinney Avenue, a prominent Dallas destination for entertainment.

From the Judges
Overall, this project is very nicely done, from the floor-to-ceiling windows and the folding doors to the indoor/outdoor connections. Judges also commented on decks being used to create interesting and successful massing on the façades.
