When Scott and Starla Campbell decided to build a new home, they had a very specific vision in mind. They wanted to create a luxurious and comfortable space, in a contemporary mountain style. And, they wanted a design that suited their unique lifestyle.
The couple commissioned Living Stone Construction for the job, and never looked back. “With Living Stone, you get a home that’s specifically made for your family’s needs and tastes. It’s tailored to you exactly,” Starla explains.
The Campbells had several practical requirements. They both work from home, so they needed a designated work space for each of them. Living Stone gave each of them an office designed for their specific work habits. But, they also went above and beyond. “We both move around the house as we work,” notes Starla. “They gave us the freedom and flexibility we were looking for by creating several comfortable work space options throughout the house, including outdoors.”
Scott and Starla love nature and the outdoors, and wanted their home to reflect that. “Living Stone created an extensive outdoor living space,” says Starla. “They gave us collapsible doors that open up completely. So, when the weather is nice, we can easily enjoy indoor/outdoor living and entertaining.”
The Campbells often invite extended family for visits, and sometimes have work groups come to their home for extended stays. Living Stone built the couple a bunkhouse that sleeps six, as well as a kitchenette for added comfort and convenience.
Aesthetically, the Campbells wanted a natural, organic look. “The house has a lot of contemporary and modern elements,” notes Starla. “But we wanted it to be comfortable and laid-back. We love the design – a very soft palette, with minimal color. A lot of organic lines, some rustic elements, and natural materials like stone and wood and leather. Nothing shiny, nothing formal. Informal luxury. We worked with Laura Sullivan from ID.ology, and she really helped us pull together the design together.”
The Campbells were impressed with every aspect of the building process. “It was a premium experience,” affirms Starla. “Living Stone was very professional, and very knowledgeable. They really understood how to build for this specific mountainside geography.
“We worked with Living Stone’s architect, and with ID.ology. They were excellent. And, the craftsmen and subcontractors Living Stone used were exceptional as well. They’ve really assembled a high-quality group of professionals who are masters of their craft. It made all the difference in the outcome.
“They have such a high level of integrity. They clearly understood our expectations, and they cared about delivering the highest quality and the best experience. We were able to build a lasting level of trust with them. If we were to ever build again, it would be difficult to work with another builder. They set a very high standard.”
