Restraint and simplicity are the hallmarks of low-country design. Clifford Lake captures the low-country essence in a compact and inviting footprint. The white color scheme is accented with simulated cedar shakes in the second-floor gables. This cottage greets you with a perfectly symmetrical design that includes an expansive covered porch for shelter.
Upon entering, a spacious foyer and a beautiful open staircase welcome you. A mudroom/laundry room along with an office and powder room are located off the back hallway as well. An open-concept kitchen, dining, and living room maximize the space while giving every room an unobstructed view of the lake beyond. The screen porch off the dining room offers a comfortable space to enjoy panoramic views of the water while still being sheltered.
Ascending upstairs is the owner’s loft, completely dedicated to the primary suite, complete with ensuite, walk-in closet and a reading nook. The lower level of the cottage includes a family room, wet bar, and two opposing guest bedrooms and bathroom with lake view. The rear of the cottage boasts a walkout lower level along with a second-floor primary suite balcony overlooking the lake.

Judges’ Comments | The exteriors have a nice scale and balance, and feature good use of color. The interiors are nice as well.
