The Bowen is a 19-story apartment tower in Austin, Texas, with 339 residences averaging 955 square feet. As the first residential high-rise at The Domain, The Bowen is the jewel in the crown of an already thriving mixed-use community. The Bowen sits in Domain South End, neighboring two office towers. The location allows residents to access the community from the south, limiting their time in traffic while still enjoying living within walkable distance of bustling retail.
The building’s architecture has a striking verticality, topped by a dramatic, overhanging roof. The façade is a combination of brick and glass, with modern steel detailing. Those materials are carried into the amenities, with floor-to-ceiling glass and brick in their double-volume spaces.
With co-working spaces, a vaulted pool house and a lux stone resident bar, The Bowen’s amenities were planned with Austin professionals in mind. Sleek finishes and tucked away spaces make the hotel-level amenities feel like home.
Studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units each have custom home detailing and quality of materials. Hardwood flooring, quartz countertops, oversized balconies and extensive cabinetry make each residence a new standard of living.

Judges’ Comments | The project features a simple footprint that resembles a high-end hotel. The lower-level common area is great, and the clubhouse in U-shaped courtyard is a departure from typical high-rise.
