Home of the Week: Swift Station

Embracing its exquisite surroundings with a unique combination of materials and sculptural forms, the entire experience is focused on creating a strong connection with the site. The main entry features a bridge over a water feature, leading to a nearly transparent façade. The distinctive curved metal roof forms establish a contemporary sculptural presence that mimics the rise and fall of the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Exterior building materials include clear cedar, an aluminum composite panel siding system, and a combination of board-formed concrete and natural stone. The free-flowing open-plan configuration reveals the expansive great room ceiling, which is comprised of a single sweeping arched roof supported by a custom steel and timber barge truss spanning the entire space. This two-story home is surrounded by a series of terraced patios and elevated decks, including a covered exterior lounge area, that step down the natural slope of the site, providing the homeowners with direct access to the outdoors from nearly every room in the home. The lower level, designed for guests and entertainment, houses a media room with a large custom bar and golf simulator.
