Design Statement | What had once been a cow pasture just north of Tampa is now home to the nation’s first Crystal Lagoon by Metro Lagoon. The man-made, sustainable, crystal clear body of water serves as the epicenter of the Epperson community, allowing for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, and walking around sandy beaches. It also offers a swim-up bar, cabanas, floating obstacle course, and more — minutes from doorsteps — making this the ultimate residential experience. Spanning 7.5 acres, the lagoon is 4,200 linear square feet in circumference, with an average depth of 8 feet and with some areas as deep as 12 feet.
Crystal Lagoon’s advanced ultrasound technology system uses thousands of sensors to keep the water crystal clear. It uses 50 times less water than a park of the same size and 30 times less water than an 18-hole golf course. It uses 100 times less chemicals than a swimming pool and up to 50 times less energy than conventional pool filtration systems. The introduction of Metro Lagoons will forever change how residents view coastal living in Florida. Instead of having to drive an hour to the beach, it is just steps from their front doors, regardless of location.
