Formal Makeover
Chappaqua, New York
Architect/Designer | Daniel Contelmo
Photographer | Daniel Contelmo Jr.
The existing house lacked character and profile and was given a complete facelift, with new gable roofs over the entry and a family room that gives prominence to the house. The existing garage was converted into a family room, and a breakfast room was added adjacent to the relocated kitchen. The existing family room was divided, to allow space for a larger kitchen, dining room, and wider, grander entry threshold. The kitchen was moved to the rear of the house, allowing room for a larger space as well as natural light from an added wall of windows. A pantry and butler’s pantry were added in between the new kitchen and the expanded dining room, and a new garage with a mudroom and laundry room was constructed on the left side of the house.
