This home is set on a large, wooded lot, an uncommon benefit in a community so close to an urban center. All of the home necessities are located on the main level, as this home is intended for a buyer of retirement age; while a sloping lot enabled a walk-out lower level with space to entertain family and guests. The organic nature of the Craftsman style influences the design, taking it to the next level with the eyebrow-shaped pediment that resembles an upscale, earthen dwelling. An open plan was desired for the main living area, and rooms were laid out to make the most of views to the rear. Design parameters included an angled garage, which suited the lot and provided a short access hallway that houses mudroom, laundry, powder room, and storage closet.
