The clients wanted to bring a taste of their northern European heritage to their new suburban home. In the kitchen, they wanted the functionality of a full suite of appliances, but not the aesthetic of an industrial kitchen. The architect maintained the warmth of a residential kitchen in the scale and detail of the cabinets and the coffered ceiling. Solid slabs at the counters and backsplash speak to the clean, modern palette and contrast with the bright white wood cabinets. The resulting design is a testament to the fact that modern and traditional are not mutually exclusive.

This home has a subtle Scandinavian sense about it.
