This house was created for everyday living, intimate meetings, entertaining, and a place to share ideas with others. Architecturally, the building is designed to capture views, bring in daylight, and establish a sense of calm through simplicity and open space. Views progress from great to amazing as one moves up through the house, with the main living space at the top, on the fourth floor. This space opens up on both ends—with living room views of the city one way, and kitchen views of the terraced yard on the other. Overall, the interiors’ restrained white minimalism is balanced with wood, color, and the city beyond. Unlike the white interior, the charred Cypress exterior is charcoal and meant to look iconic for its unique beauty and to distinguish the home from its neighbors. In addition to the views, the terraced yard is also intended to play a significant role in the experience of the house.
