This custom home was crafted as a space for the owners to entertain, enjoy quality time with family and friends, and embrace the surrounding views of the ocean from all living spaces. With a contemporary, nautical design, and clean lines, this home was built on an unearthed historic 1800’s shipwreck. Remaining fragments were still on sight and were incorporated into the landscaping design.
The design focuses on high quality materials that require low maintenance in an area with salty conditions. The floor-to-ceiling windows are trimmed in Sapele Mahogany for a dramatic effect and hidden ceiling shades help to block the afternoon sun. The outdoor living space has an open concept that allows the whole group to interact – whether they are having drinks under the cabana at the boat bar, lounging on the boat stern seating area, or wading in the glass encased pool – all while embracing the water views from every direction. The boat bar and boat stern seating area were renovations of a 1971 US Navy Hull. In order to create the bar and seating area, the boat was cut into two halves and each half’s structure was refinished and lifted from the ground to the roof-top by means of a large crane. The boat bar under the cabana is equipped with a beautifully crafted mahogany surface, interior shelving and a lock-and-key liquor drawer. The stern seating area incorporates refrigerated cup holders, underlying led lights and ample cushioned space. The powder room vanity incorporates a piece of reclaimed wood from the shipwreck. Oo-tray is labeled on the back of the seating, meaning to “pass the bounds of what is usual”, which this project certainly does!
