Home of the Week: What the Farmhouse

This custom home on 40 acres in Larkspur, Colorado was given a “Modern Glam Farmhouse” style designation. The owners desired a private sanctuary that would provide all the spaces their lives required, from a cook’s kitchen and his-and-hers private home offices to a basement level for their teenage son to inhabit. The primary goal in every space was to create intimate seating areas that kept this large home cozy.

The interior finishes all supported a substantial modern farmhouse architecture with details of the personality of the family. The upper level contains the offices and a massive custom library. The greatest challenge was maintaining proper scale. Many of the rooms were so large that normal scale furnishings, fixtures, and finishes would seem out of balance.
