Home of the Week: Myers Lahontan

A narrow lot with difficult access kept this Truckee, Calif. lot from selling.

It took an owner with vision and experience to bring this home to fruition and a Platinum Best in American Living Awards (BALA) Platinum honor for One of a Kind Custom or Spec Home, 6,001 – 8,000 Square Feet.

As the lot dictated the width of the home, architectural hierarchy was engaged to soften its length.

This was achieved through multiple roof forms and interconnecting spaces.

The walnut windows, trim and paneling throughout create a rich feel yet are durable and reinforce the mountain character.

It was a challenge to create a sophisticated backdrop to display a curated art collection with traditionally rustic mountain finishes, but the avid art collector now has a home that is ‘art’ itself as well as being a showcase for a unique collection.

BALA judges commented: “Well done; well executed; well-integrated with site; every room has a wonderful view of the lake.”
