Home of the Week: Georgetown Lake Home

The goal of this Georgetown Lake, Montana, design was to use natural materials to create a modern living experience that this owner can share with a variety of friends and family.

It also took home a 2017 Best in American Living Award Gold Award for One-of-a-Kind Custom or Spec Home, 4,501 – 6,000 Square Feet.

Modern design lends itself well to mountain-style homes, where views from large window groupings are essential.

The Prairie style was an influence in the design, which flows with the land, placing interior spaces within their own planes.

This movement also imitates the nearby mountain ranges.

Using timber framing to erect the home accomplishes two goals: the wide, open interiors, and a natural hue and texture that blend with the surroundings.

Thoughtful use of stone creates distinct accents both inside and out.

BALA judges remarked: “Sited perfectly; terracing really engages landscape.”
