With soaring 38-foot ceilings, the challenge designing this Grand Hall was to address the complexities of proportion, tone and texture established by the massive architecture. Furthering the challenge was the requirement to use the European countryside inspired architecture as a backdrop to a more timeless and modern interior design while utilizing clean lined furnishings, curated abstract art and modern accessories. Intended for entertaining large numbers of guests, one objective was to make each space memorable and unique while emitting a resort style comfort. Offshoot spaces of the Grand Hall add to the grandiose nature of the room; a large central bar distinguished by its suspended canopy and the catacombs wine tasting room tucked intimately under the distinctive dual helical stairs. The interior is well ornamented with spectacular mortise and tenon timber framed trusses, tapered stone columns and rhythmic stone archways. Floors are clad with stone and reclaimed granary wood warmed by radiant heated technology enhancing the comfort of the Hall.
Every detail was carefully considered starting with the custom decorative iron lighting, the unique patterned hand-tufted rugs, and the imported cut stone fireplaces. The canopy poised over the bar, designed to create a level of comfort and intimacy, features a custom designed metal grid to reflect the character of the home. Three-dimensional plaques flank either side of the back bar displaying the family crest and adding personality to the bar’s detailing. Tucked under the grand staircase sets an inviting and intimate formal dining room wrapped in intricate masonry detailing and defined by a brick barrel vaulted ceiling that unites the rhythmic arches in the architecture. Utilizing expansive sliding glass doors, the interior becomes connected to the extensive outdoor patio living areas, making this room a truly memorable space within the Estate.
Nestled in the center of a large spans of forested land, this outdoor living space is designed to provide ultimate luxury with all the amenities of a 5-star resort. The outdoor space includes multiple covered patios, an infinity pool, pool house and cabana, all with direct focus on the amazing views of the wooded setting and Colorado Mountains beyond.
Situated around the pool, multiple gathering areas provide a variety of seating to entertain groups small or large. The designer presented a calming, monochromatic palette by utilizing woods, stones and metals combined with an earthen color scheme, highlighting pops of deep red accents intended to blend this outdoor living space with the beauty beyond its decks. Selecting all-weather furnishings and accessories are essential for this kind of setting. While still lavish, they are sturdy pieces to withstand Colorado’s adventurous four-season weather.
The expansive patio wraps completely around the infinity edge pool, ideal for the enjoyment of watching Colorado’s amazing sunsets. Ceramic planters placed strategically throughout add dashes of seasonal color while the surrounding landscape is kept to native plantings.
An open air pool house features retractable doors on three sides, adding more expanse to the outdoor space with its function focusing on gaming and entertainment. On the opposite side of the pool, the cabana features a grand stone fireplace and an intimate seating area, also housing the pool changing and bathrooms. The large curved outdoor bar contains all the amenities with not only substantial cooking appliances, but also a large LED TV and outdoor speakers to supply everything required to host any gathering from an elegant dinner party to a large summertime pool party. An incredible sound system and LED lighting is carefully integrated in the landscaping and around the pool adding a finishing touch to this remarkable outdoor room.
