Located along the banks of South Carolina’s Catawba River, in an area once inhabited by the Catawba Indians, the Riverwalk community boasts three miles of riverfront trails, a world-class cycling velodrome and a BMX super-cross track. Its position along the river, combined with the numerous outdoor opportunities, make it ideal for those with an active lifestyle. The Master Plan includes a River District, a Town Center, a Business Park and apartments in addition to single-family homes. Once constructed, these sections will include amenities such as river-front shopping and dining, an express YMCA, a boutique hotel and a world-renowned grocery store.

This home’s architectural style is Piedmont Homestead, with a focus on simple building, sustainability, earthy color palettes, and materials that feel like home. The plan was modeled after an era of extensive porches, allowing residents to take full advantage of the outdoors. The layout functions well for a young family of four, which is the target market for these homes. The lower level’s open floor plan allows children to have their own space in the family room while parents cook in the nearby kitchen and all three bedrooms are on the second floor, just around the corner from the laundry room and loft. The home’s is in a prime community location, among 15 other cottages in a community pocket park. While each of the cottages has a small lot, all 15 units face a large, open green space. The plan also features a screened lower front porch as well as an upper porch to maximize these views and enhance the feeling of community.
